Un encuentro interdisciplinar que abordará cuestiones de género desde el ámbito insular más alejado.
La cultura es femenina 2020 se trasladará a la isla colombina de la gomera el próximo 13 de marzo, concretamente al pueblo de Agulo gracias al apoyo del excelentísimo ayuntamiento, para favorecer así, las perspectivas futuras de un sector muy vulnerable como es el cultural en dicho archipiélago, y más si cabe dentro de un ámbito tan complicado como es la mujer rural, que alejada de toda facilidad urbanita se enfrenta a un sector profesional, como es el cultural, desde una lejanía casi aislante. Para ello trasladaremos la exposición que se inauguró el pasado sábado 15 de febrero en el Espacio Cultural El Tanque, y generar así un encuentro que será escenario para jóvenes estudiantes de arte y jóvenes creadores de otras disciplinas que expondrán por primera vez sus obras al final del proceso.
También se presentará el resultado de la residencia histórica literaria que ha generado la escritora Yanet Acosta, un escrito que no podría ir más acorde con el enclave, pues gira entorno a Colón y las mujeres que viajaron con él. Dicha temática será el pilar base donde se sustente el workshop que llevaremos a cabo.
Titulada Las mujeres de Colón, nos adentrará en la tripulación de los viajes de Colón al Nuevo Mundo, el cual siempre ha sido objeto de estudio por parte de historiadores. La presencia de mujeres entre los tripulantes solo está documentada en el segundo viaje, pero no se descarta entre los investigadores la posibilidad de que ya desde el primer viaje subiera a bordo alguna mujer, incluso a su paso por Canarias. Este espacio hipotético ofrece muchas posibilidades literarias trabajadas a partir no solo desde la ficción, sino también, de la investigación y documentación histórica que permite recrear la visión femenina del histórico viaje.
Este proyecto se podrá llevar a cabo gracias a la colaboración y apoyo del Cabildo de Tenerife, Fundación Caja Canarias, Cabildo de la Gomera y Ministerio de cultura y deporte. Gobierno de España.
Sobre el proyecto, forma parte de un proyecto más amplio llamado Por qué la cultura importa. LA CULTURA ES FEMENINA 2020 es un proyecto interdiscisplinar que pretende conocer, ordenar e interpretar datos objetivos que influyen en la cultura, de manera creativa y difundir a través de acciones artísticas la interpretación de dichos datos que hacen que la cultura influya en la sociedad. Un proyecto que pretende dar respuestas objetivas a la pregunta ¿por qué la cultura es importante en igualdad? desde diferentes puntos de vista y sectores. Y que pretende también fomentar la velocidad a la hora de acercarnos a la igualdad.
En el mundo del arte y la cultura es difícil encontrar mujeres en puestos preminentes y también es difícil encontrar representadas determinadas imágenes de la vida cotidiana, como por ejemplo una niña leyendo con su padre, normalmente, en el arte sólo las madres enseñan a leer. Este es solo un ejemplo de lo que sucede cuando nos adentramos en la desigualdad existente en el ámbito de la cultural.
El proyecto #laculturaesfemenina2020 une diferentes ámbitos de actuación, diseña medidas de acción positiva en materia cultural, interviene en diversos espacios y con mujeres artistas de diversas procedencias, y alienta la creatividad en igualdad porque en la profesión de la cultura, si podemos denominarla así, la mujer está infrarepresentada, y a la vez sensibiliza a la población en general para la igualdad. Es un proyecto a su vez suma de proyectos. Proyectos de intervención cultural en distintos ámbitos con mujeres artistas.
La Cultura Es Femenina 2020 moves to La Gomera with its latest exhibition focused on the situation of women in culture, geographically located in rural areas of the Canarian island La Gomera, Spain.
An interdisciplinary meeting that will address gender issues from a distant insular environment.
La Cultura Es Femenina 2020 will be transferred to the Colombian island of La Gomera on March 13th, specifically to the people of Agulo thanks to the support of the excellent city council. La Cultura es Femenina will travel here to enhance the future perspectives of a very vulnerable sector such as the cultural one in a, so to speak, archipelago, and more so to address a cultural role for rural women in this complicated sector. On La Gomera they live far from any urban facility yet have to face the professional, cultural sector from the other islands. For this we will move the exhibition that opened on Saturday February 15th in the Cultural Space El Tanque on Tenerife, and thus generate a meeting on La Gomera that will be the stage for young art students and young creators of other disciplines that will exhibit their works for the first time at the end of the process.
The result of the literary historical residence generated by the writer Yanet Acosta will also be presented. Her work could not be more in line with the character of the festival La Cultura es Femenina, since it revolves around the explorer Columbus and the role of the women who traveled with him. This theme will represent the heart of the workshop.
Following Acosta’s work titled Women of Columbus, we will walk in the footsteps of the crew of Columbus’s trips to the New World, a theme hat has always been of interest of study by historians. The presence of women among crew members is only documented on the second trip, but it is not ruled out among researchers the possibility exists that since the first trip a woman was on board, at the moment they passed through the Canary Islands. This hypothesis offers many literary possibilities, derived not only from fiction, but also from historical research and documentation that recreates the feminine vision of the historical journey.

La Cultura Es Femenina 2020 is an interdisciplinary project that aims to know, order and interpret objective data that influence culture and creativity, and aims to distribute the interpretation of these data that make culture influence society through artistic actions. The project #laculturaesfemenina2020 unites different areas of contemporary artistic expressions and disciplines, intervenes in different spaces and with female artists from various backgrounds, and encourages creativity in equality. Because in the profession of culture, if we can call it that, women are underrepresented, and thus points out inequality. This is a project existing of a sum of projects: cultural intervention projects in different areas with (mostly) female artists and female artworks.
